A Colorado Thanksgiving

 Hello all!
Malee, Horsman (roomy) and I just got back from Colorado over Thanksgiving break. We stayed in Colorado Springs with Horsman's family, but Malee and I got to venture up to Denver to explore and meet up with Andrew! CLICK HERE to see some pictures!
Overall, we had a great trip and are still planning on moving to the Denver area in the next few years. Malee got to see her first snow storm (complete with huge, fluffy flakes so it was a good one!). We also got to play in fallen leaves - a first for her as well. Seeing Andrew was a great surprise. We wandered the downtown in search of delicious beers and tasty food. Needless to say, we met our goals!
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. I miss you all and hope to see you this summer!
Cheers!

CD available online

 Hello all
I realize I haven't been on here much and I do apologize. I've been busy with work and music but I wanted to let you all know we've released a live recording of what we've been doing at the W Hotel here in Scottsdale (recorded and produced by yours truly). You can listen to some tracks on our ReverbNation page, or buy the disc/individual tracks here. The song "Just Another Day" is the sound we're working towards on our upcoming rock EP. I'll post more later, but long story short, my band Critch (two piece consisting of me on drums/vocals and Mitch on keys/vocals) is heading into the studio September 27th to record a 3 song EP - sounds like The White Stripes, The Black Keys and The White Rabbits (all black and white I guess). Like I said, I'll post more later and will definitely let everyone know how the process goes.
Hope all is well and I'll write more soon.
cheers

Washburn Project Guitar

I have been learning about the inter-workings of electric guitars with help from my friend Boot, who is a bass/guitar tech for bands such as Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, Thrice, etc. He has been kind enough to come to my workshop and help me "customize" a guitar I got from my roommate Horsman.

When we first got the guitar, it had a standard 2 humbucker, 1 volume pot (knob), 1 tone pot, and a 3-way switch configuration. I wanted to learn how to install push/pull pots, which allows you to split the coils on the humbuckers to achieve single coil sounds - think Jimi Hendrix or David Gilmore, as opposed to Kirk Hammett or Steve Vai sounds. To do this, we replaced the 1 volume and 1 tone pot with 2 push/pull pots and wired them to 2 new DiMarzio humbuckers (which have 4 conductor wires, therefore allowing coil splitting).

I posted some pics of the process on my facebook page which you can see here

It's been awhile....

Hello all!
I realize I have not blogged recently, but you will have to wait a little longer. My computer crashed (again) so
I'm frantically trying to recover all my lost pictures and music. Sucks.

I just wanted to write and let you know it's beautiful down here right now! Been 75 for the last few weeks.... hope
you're jealous :)

Molly and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary at the Montelucia Resort here in PHX so I'll upload pics soon. I also have a
tons of pics from our trip to San Francisco I'll post as well. You can also go to my facebook page (facebook.com/johncreasey)
and check out all my pics there.  It'll probably be a little while until I recover all my pictures (see computer crashing above)
so facebook might be a good opportunity to see what I've been up to.

Life in short: I'm busy planning a HUGE party for the W Hotel in Scottsdale, working at my new internship at Blue Light Audio and
working constantly. I'll elaborate on these when I have some more time.

Back to rehearsal! Hope all is well!!

VIP at Metal Mayhem 2009

For Molly and I's 2.4 year anniversary (29 months) I did what any other caring boyfriend would do; I took her to a metal show :). Knowing she could hang - I've already taken her to see Meshuggah and various other "ridiculous" bands - I got some VIP tickets from a friend of mine who won them in a contest. The tickets included  VIP parking (easier entrance/exit), catered food, passes to the VIP club (where there was an air conditioned bathroom and a bar), and seats in a box right up front. Being 118 degrees outside and it was an outdoor gig, the air conditioned bathrooms won MVP by far! Bands we saw included Killswitch Engage, Slayer and Marilyn Manson.

Not a typical show for us, but hey, free tickets are free tickets, and free VIP tickets are even better so you get my logic. Also, a good friend of ours is the bass tech for Marilyn Manson, as another friend just landed the gig as the bassist (Andy Gerold - google him), so we got to meet the bands and I got a whole bunch of guitar picks to add to my collection!

Return to Cedar Falls

As I mentioned in my earlier blog, I recently went back to CF for a good friend's wedding. Here are some pics:

(above) this is the wedding ceremony (obviously). Matt Humpal got married to Lindsey Ford and the groomsmen included Mike Staebell, Matt Peters, and Jason Luders (for those of you who know them). It was a gorgeous, short wedding, which is always a plus in my book.

this is a picture of all my boys from high school taken at Mulligans (bar in CF) right after the wedding, right before the reception. Left to right, top to bottom (just like reading) is: Ben Kuts, Brent Fortner, Brock Stubbs, Mike Staebell, Jason Johnson, Matt Peters, Scott Shannon, Daniel Humpal - (bottom) ME, Matt Humpal (groom), Anthony King and Seth Eschweiler. Great times...

Andrew's house in Iowa City

I recently went back home to Iowa for a friends wedding in CF. I was lucky enough to spend a few days with Andrew at his farm house in Iowa City. Thought I'd post some pics to show everyone how bad ass this house is! Gorgeous plot of land (and the day didn't hurt either).

View of the house

more land...

jam time!!

All in all, I had a blast going home. Got to see Dad and Grandma for lunch in Iowa City and then all my old high school friends from CF at the wedding. I'll post a blog about CF when I get a chance. I also want to do a 'cribs' style video of my studio so you can see/hear what I'm currently working on. Anyone know if I can post videos?
That's all for now... more coming later

Cheers
